About Us

Destina Connor is the Game Designer for Tea-Powered Games, as well as Co-Director and Co-Founder of the company. She also dabbles in Unity code magic. In her spare time, she explores the fictional worlds of many forms of artful media, deconstructs and reconstructs every intangible thing she can get her hands on, and tries to share it all with anyone open to listening and sharing (as long as it’s not on social media, bleh).

Dylan Connor is a game enthusiast and a life long learner… and in no way thinks these mutually exclusive. His quest for knowledge led him to pursue a BS in Applied Math and BBA in Finance, Accounting and Information Systems at Emory University, but he looks to make sure his learning does not end with the completion of formal academia. He seeks to understand how each avenue in his life can be a learning experience and hopes this blog will help to elucidate insights found down the path of gaming.

Dylan – I love that you just used the word “peruse”. Music to my word-nerd ears! You and I are going to get along just fine 🙂

    Hello Fellas,
kinda groovy that my little post about Penny Arcade (I so love those fellas right now) got your interest. My son is studying game design in the sUcK. Y’all got any suggestions as to where he might look for resources, like minded fellows, communal living with his own ‘kind’?
Thanks for the like, it makes an ‘old’ (terribly slow gamer) very happy!
    🙂

Hey and thanks for popping by!

As you might guess from the WILA Extra Credits post, I’m a fan as well.

Forgive my stating what is perhaps obvious, but one of the best things any prospective game designer can do is just go out and meet people (physically) nearby doing the same stuff. If your son is doing a game design degree, the Profs and any student resources might be a good place to start in finding any local events and meet-ups (assuming he’s looking for something more official than his fellow classmates).

Sorry if that’s not much help. So much depends on where he’s at and what he wants to get out of it. Wherever he goes to find people, though, I wish him the best of luck – game design isn’t an easy interest to pursue, but it is certainly a great one.

        You make total sense.
Sadly the collage he is studying at have done a pretty poor job. He cares far more about what he is doing than they do. They treat it like a ‘soft option’ and seem entirely disconnected from the real world.
In the process they have put him off formal education and killed any desire to take study further.
It’s all very annoying as he works very hard but he pushes himself harder than they do.
As you say, I will encourage him to find like minded people.
Good luck with what you do, I must now go back to script writing and watching Season three of the Penny Arcade series. I am really not much of a gamer, but I love those guys.
        have a day,

It was an absolutely gorgeous piece! It’s hard to captivate a blog surveyor with a piece that is nearly 2000 words, but that article did the trick (for me at least).

Hey guys, looks like you’ve got a pretty cool blog going (thanks for the recent like on my own game design blog). Now, time to read some more of your blog. Have fun!

Thanks for commenting! I will think about if anything particularly interesting stands out. Lots of neat little moments that stick with me, but not necessarily great stories to elaborate on. I pepper most of my articles with anecdotes here and there, so if you saw one that beckoned garnishment, you can let me know. I hope Dust has some good stories from the design side in the months to come, but we shall see!
